PureWave Networks Press Release
Mercury Wireless Selects PureWave Quantum Base Stations for Network UpgradeDelivers advanced broadband services at a range of up to 15 milesMountain View, April 20, 2011 - PureWave Networks, Inc., a rapidly growing provider of advanced 4G wireless base stations, today announced that it has been selected by Mercury Wireless as the operator's wireless broadband infrastructure provider. Mercury Wireless, whose network spans 4,000 sq. miles in rural Kansas, will use PureWave Quantum 6636 Mobile WiMAX base stations to provide broadband and voice services to new and existing customers. The company ultimately intends to migrate its entire network from its existing wireless equipment provider to the high-performance PureWave solution. "Before making our selection we tested PureWave's gear in the field against our existing vendor's equipment and we were blown away," said Garrett Wiseman, Mercury's CEO. "The PureWave Quantum base stations allowed us to quadruple the download speeds we offer to our customers and to serve Non-Line-of-Sight customers that we simply couldn't reach using our existing 900 MHz and 3.65 GHz network. In fact, PureWave Quantum base stations allow us to deliver better service to some NLOS customers than we were able to deliver to LOS customers using equipment from our previous vendor." "Our goal is to revolutionize the economics of 4G wireless deployment", said Dan Picker, PureWave's CTO. "Using PureWave Quantum's smart antenna system, operators have a very robust link-budget with which to work, allowing them to serve customers that are further away or in more challenging NLOS conditions. This is especially true in the 3.65GHz band, where regulations place tight constraints on the power transmitted by consumer devices. Moonblink Communications, a value-add distributor of PureWave equipment, provided service and support to Mercury throughout the field trial and selection process. "Moonblink has been there for us in both the good times and the bad," said Mr. Wiseman. "Moonblink is a true partner. Their experience and expertise in the wireless broadband space has proven to be invaluable. Their team of partner development managers and engineers are always available to provide product recommendations, detailed technical information, and high level system design assistance. We truly value the high level of service we get from Moonblink and the partnership we've built together over the years." "We are proud to have been selected as Mercury's infrastructure equipment vendor," said Peter Carson, PureWave's SVP of Sales. "We strive to provide our customers with excellent products and, just as importantly, with fantastic service and support. We are looking forward to working with Mercury to grow their business for years to come."
