Description   Reviews
Motorola Canopy Wireless 5.4 GHz Advantage Connectorized Subscriber Module is the subscriber termination unit or the Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). It consists of a single module that operates with an integrated 60-degree antenna. Each SM can communicate to a single AP Module at any given time. SM synchronization and control is accomplished via the received AP signal. SMs are typically located outdoor and Line of Sight (LOS) from the APs. Once the SM is initialized, it scans the Radio Frequency (RF) channels and automatically registers with the appropriate AP.

The Canopy Advantage platform is the next generation of Motorola's wireless broadband access infrastructure. With this new platform, Canopy equipment users can simultaneously enjoy the strengths of the original Canopy product coupled with dramatic improvements in throughput and latency in the Canopy Advantage platform and ultimately, as it becomes available, the features of WiMAX in the unlicensed frequency band.

With the Canopy Advantage platform, broadband providers can now offer premium services wirelessly, such as VoIP and video, as an alternative or extension to DSL or T1/E1 services. Private network operators can support distance learning; video conferencing or high-speed data transfer securely and at a fraction of the cost of subscribing to traditional wired services.

The Canopy Advantage platform is built on the field proven Canopy system and includes the high level of interference tolerance, scalability, signal reliability and ease of installation inherent in all Canopy equipment. Building on these strengths, the Canopy Advantage platform provides the following enhancements:

-High Performance: Effectively reduces latency by one-third (from approximately 20 milliseconds to 5 to 7 milliseconds)

-Lightning Fast Speeds: Essentially doubles throughput of a Canopy subscriber module and delivers data rates in excess of today's DSL and cable networks of 7 Mbps and with the new Canopy Advantage SM the throughput doubles yet again to 14 Mbps to a single user

-True Quality of Service: Enables operators to provide differentiated levels of service using Committed Information Rate (CIR) and Maximum Information Rate (MIR)

-Comprehensive Multi-Services Platform: An ATM frame structure uses small frame sizes which reduce retransmission times and provides for low latency - a critical component for delivering high quality services such as VoIP and online gaming

-Seamless Integration: All subscriber modules currently in the field can easily be upgraded, via software download, and take advantage of the benefits of the Advantage platform when used with a Canopy Advantage AP

The Canopy Advantage platform provides protection for your investment by providing compatibility with your existing network and by being upgradeable to meet future performance requirements. And, of course, customers can take advantage of Motorola's world-class professional services and comprehensive operations, administration, maintenance & performance system, providing the key element management system tools essential to running a well-performing network.
