The ORiNOCO AP-1000 Access Point is an IEEE 802.11b Wi-Fi™ compliant 11 Mbit/s wireless Access Point that operates on the license-free 2.4 GHz band. The AP-1000 extends the range of a cabled Ethernet network, providing easy network access to both mobile users and locations that are difficult to wire. It features dual PCMCIA card slots to accept the Terabeam Wireless Diamond WLAN cards (purchased separately). It is also ideal for use by ISPs to offer high-speed Internet access to customers. Typically three but as many as four radio channels can be used at a WIPOP with a properly designed base antenna system. The ORiNOCO AP1000 is interoperable with other manufacturers' 802.11 DSSS compliant equipment such as Terabeam Wireless's GoWirelessData client product line.

• Dual PCMCIA card slots provide flexibility in the use of WLAN cards. An upgrade to newer radio technology can be established very easily with a swap of the WLAN PC card, protecting your investment in the ORiNOCO infrastructure.
• The use of two WLAN cards allows each card to operate on two different radio channels.
• Windows based SNMP compliant ORiNOCO AP Manager enables remote control and configuration.
• Can be upgraded to an ROR or COR with firmware if LAN bridging or wireless routing is needed.
