The Wattmeter Kit is an invaluable tool for anyone deploying a Wireless LAN or a Wireless Internet system using 2.4 GHz radios regardless of wether troubleshooting a RF problem caused by bad cable, connector, antenna, radio transmitter or amplifier is extremely difficult, if not impossible.
Without the Wattmeter Kit, you will be working blind when installing a new radio system or fixing one that is giving you trouble. It will likely pay for itself the first time you use and find that waterlogged cable, bad connector or defective antenna. And even though it only measures transmit powers, the same losses also will apply to received signals as well.
Before commissioning a WIPOP(Wireless Internet Point of Presence) base system, you can test each element of the radio installation with the Wattmeter Kit. You can make sure that your Coax Cable did not get crimped during installation. If the Coax Transmission Cable is not installed properly, it can easily get a crimp in it that will act almost like an RF short circuit for both transmit and receive signals. This test is vital when the cable is pushed or pulled, through pipes, tubing or feed-thru's.
With the Wattmeter Kit, you can measure the actual RF signal from the radio through the DC injector and right to the amplifier at your operation frequency in that cable after it has been installed. Installing a WIPOP system without verifying this is risky. You will never know if you have a problem or where it is and without the Wattmeter Kit, you could spend days trying to De-Bug it. People have.
