Motorola Introduces New Canopy® 900 MHz Subscriber Module for Indoor Wireless Broadband Connectivity

Motorola Introduces New Canopy® 900 MHz Subscriber Module for Indoor Wireless Broadband Connectivity

Canopy Unit Enables Rapid Indoor Installation for Cost-Effective Network Expansion

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – 19 November 2007 – Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced today that its popular outdoor Canopy wireless broadband solution will be moving indoors with the 900 MHz indoor Subscriber Module (SM) now available in the U.S. and Canada. Part of the MOTOwi4™ Fixed Point-to-Multipoint portfolio, the wireless tabletop set-up enables quick in-home, in-business or in-facility access to wireless broadband by decreasing the time and cost of installing subscriber equipment.

Fully compatible with the field-proven Canopy portfolio currently used by more than 4,000 service providers in more than 120 countries, the 900 MHz indoor SM supports voice over IP (VoIP), data and file transfer including video and music, as well as video surveillance.

"We were looking forward to implementing Motorola's 900 MHz indoor solution," said John Diem, Vice President of Fox Valley Internet. "We took the unit to the local police station, went into an interior conference room, installed the product in minutes and it worked immediately.  A cost-effective, easy to deploy indoor subscriber module is the answer to many of our customers' needs."

The 900 MHz indoor SM was designed to expand wireless connectivity in a non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environment. These units can be installed in minutes, providing a quick and easy solution that reduces time and costs for network operators. The introduction of this solution further expands Motorola’s expertise to deliver seamless mobility both indoors and outdoors, providing users with access to required information everywhere.

“This solution serves end-users who could not be easily reached with outdoor units, providing a flexible and multi-optional network design to a greater number of diverse users,” said Jim Welch, Motorola’s Vice President, Wireless Broadband Engineering and Product Management, Government & Public Safety. "This innovative indoor subscriber module allows service providers to reach more customers at very economical price points."

The Canopy 900 MHz Indoor SM is a component of the wi4 Fixed family of broadband solutions, part of the MOTOwi4™ portfolio of solutions for public and private networks which also includes wi4 Mesh, wi4 Indoor, wi4 WiMAX and enterprise WLAN.
